I'm obviously not a biologist, nor do I have any formal training in genetics or other such fields of study, but from what I've read, I have to believe the limited gene pool and decades of in-breeding have contributed to their current state of health. I'm in no position to give percentages, but aside from the other issues that are a factor, I have to believe that the in-breeding has played a major role. I just hope to see the wolves bounce back, afterall, they are a big part of the whole I.R. experience, even if you never get to see one.
