Itinerary: Itinerary: Obtaining backcountry permits - kayaking to Rainbow Cove area, then along the south shore/Atwood beach; returning to Grace Harbor area or Huginnin Cove for a few days.

Hometown: Stillwater, MN
Arrival Date: Saturday, 9 July 2016
Departure Date: Thursday, 14 July 2016
Coming From/Via: Voyageur II of Grand Portage
Itinerary: Drop off at Belle Isle with a canoe; pick up at Daisy Farm. The rest is up to the whimsy of the lake.
Notes/Other: After last year's July "we're never coming to Isle Royale in July again" backpack trip in the heat, we justified once again not making our traditional May or June trip by convincing ourselves it's much easier to stay cool when you're in a canoe on Lake Superior. :) We'll see where the boaters may be and where we decide to lay our heads, but my brother-in-law and I are thinking a couple days on the North side, and then a couple on the South. We're in an open canoe and so will plan to portage instead of paddle around Blake.

Edit: Modified itinerary to reflect changes en route. Added Lake Richie and deleted a layover day at Chippewa Harbor.

Names: David Specht, Nick Hansmann, Christopher Gibson, Zach Cousineau, Mitchell Courier, Joshua Marcotte
Email: djs1.618@gmail
Hometown: Gaylord, MI (I currently live in Grand Rapids, the others still live in Gaylord)
Arrival Date: Sunday, September 4, 2016
Departure Date: David, Nick and Mitchell - Friday, September 9 via the Queen. Zach, Josh, Christopher - Saturday, September 10 via the Ranger.
Coming from/Via: Copper Harbor via Queen

Itinerary (still not sure if this is final):

9/4: Hike about 8 miles to Lane Cove
9/5: Hike about 13 miles to McCargoe Cove
9/6: Hike to the Minong Mine and then to West Chickenbone Lake, about 4.5 miles altogether
9/7: Hike about 5.5 miles to Moskey Basin
9/8: Hike about 8.5 miles to Three Mile
9/9: Hike about 3.5 miles back to Rock Harbor(David, Nick, Mitchell). Hang out and day hike, get beers (Zach, Josh, Christopher)
9/10: Zach, Josh and Christopher take the Ranger back to Houghton to be picked up by David, Nick and Mitchell

Any suggestions for a crew of first-timers? We are all fairly experienced backpackers so the length of the hikes won't be an issue, but are there any other recommendations?

Thanks - we are stoked! :)
