Re: Ice Caves and Ice Climbing in the UP
Who won Phase 10 and who led the show tunes?! We were up to our cottage in the UP last weekend and had to snowshoe in. 5 foot drifts in the driveway, shed door was drifted shut, ice all the way to Canada, but it was still beautiful. Cutters and ice breakers started work up there this week clearing the way for the freighters to navigate the St. Mary's up to the Soo.

Looks like you can darn near walk across Superioir to I.R. right now. Check out the article on this page http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mqt/?n=lake_superior_ice. If you click on the photo you will see a larger picture. There's a lot of ice out there.

Be interesting to see if any critters cross over to IR.Backpacker534 wrote:Looks like you can darn near walk across Superioir to I.R. right now. Yeah, especially since the Winter Study folks seem to think that some collared wolves may have gone off to Canada...Be interesting to see if any critters cross over to IR.
Isle Royale is embedded in ice. Despite extensive searches for the collared wolves, they again went undetected. February 23rd is the last we saw either of them. We now suspect they left Isle Royale – perhaps for Canada.

There is a Bugs Bunny type cartoon here!!!
2 wolves leaving, 2 coming out, changing the collar.
