Leaving for my first trip on Friday, can't wait! Our plan is kinda up in the air but we plan on hitting Moskey and McCargoe Cove.
I can post a report when the trip is through. You guys are a great help though, this forum is an excellent resource.

Hometown: Twin Cities, MN
Arrival Date: Wednesday, 22 Sept 10
Departure Date: Sunday, 26 Sept 10
Coming From/Via: Grand Marais, via the Voyageur II
Itinerary:
Wednesday, 22Sept10 - Take VII to McCargoe, Hike to Todd Harbor
Thursday, 23Sept10 - Todd Harbor to Hatchet Lake. (Probably a sleepy morning)
Friday, 24Sept10 - Hatchet to Desor South.
Saturday, 25Sept10 -Desor South to Island Mine*
Sunday, 26Sept10 - Island Mine to Windigo, off island.
Notes/Other:
*We will be evaluating the water situation at Island Mine, and pushing on to Windigo if necessary.

My Brother-in-Law Brent and I made the first boat this year, and so will be returning for a fall trip. We're bringing along two Isle newbies, his colleague Kent, and his 11 year old daughter, Cami. We'll keep her pack light, and are planning casual pace along the trail. That's part of the reason for the somewhat shorter distances per day. We're guessing both will be hooked, as so many of us have had happen before.
Just like this year was my first 'first boat', this will be my first September trip - Work has always been in the way. I can't wait!

I was at Island Mine on Saturday Sept. 11. Water was flowing quite well but it had been raining most of the day. I liked this campsite. The mature maple trees were quite impressive and had a tinge of color to them. My trip report will follow soon; I am still acclimatizing to city life after 6 wonderful days on the island.
