New Resource for Historical Information

Post by Midwest Ed »

An old post I made regarding a link to searchable database of Isle Royale structures is broken again and I haven’t been able to repair the link. My repair efforts resulted in this new discovery, an online search engine of “Properties Listed in the National Register of Historic Places”.

It’s a rather clunky interface. Plug “Isle Royale” into the search window. The result window is fairly tiny so you must use the scroll bars (both horizontal and vertical). On the extreme right there is often a link to another database that contains an even greater wealth of info. Be patient as the scanned document can be huge and the servers are terribly slow to serve up the data. But it can be either viewed or downloaded in PDF format.

Or you can download the entire database as an Excel spreadsheet or a CSV file. The links to the final info are also in the spreadsheet.

I extracted a couple of the links to illustrate.
