Name: John
Email: (at) Deerlessacres@live.com
Hometown: Shelby Township, MI
Arrival Date: June 4 (Monday)
Departure Date: June 8 (Friday)
Coming From/Via: Copper Harbor
Itinerary: Fishing and hopefully staying dry and avoiding bugs!!
Notes/Other: Our group of 4 plan on exploring the inland lakes via kayak.
Day:

UPDATED! Realized the Queen does not start running Saturday's until next week :(
.5) Sunday night - Spend the night in Copper Harbor and get well rested for the trip over on Monday
1) Monday - Arrive via 'The Queen' and take the taxi to Chippewa Harbor. Possibly stay first 2 nights in Chippewa if we can get a shelter, if not, first night only.
2) Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday AM. Explore Whittlesey, Wood and Siskiwit. Spend Tuesday and / or Wednesday night on Wood.
3) Thursday Afternoon - Paddle back to CH and take the taxi back to RH. Spend Thursday night in either RH or 3 Mile
5) Friday - take the Queen for the return trip.

Since we are returing a day earlier than planned, weather permitting, we will be stopping at Craig Lake State Park on the way back down for a night or two.

Thu 5/10/12 Depart

Base: ~ 9Lbs

Second IR trip, first time on the Minong. Expecting crap weather and dodgy trail conditions on the Minong being so early, in fact I'm kind of looking forward to that. With the gales last time I was there, anything less would be a bit of a let-down. ;-)

EDIT (wee hours on 2/24): Booked the boat!

I would love to see your itemized list of gear with weights. Maybe post it in the Gear and Supplies forum to not "clutter up" the itineraries.

Name: Mark
Hometown: St. Paul, MN
Arrival Date: Before the blackflies hatch.
Departure Date: 5 days later
Coming From/Via: Grand Portage, MN / Voyageur II

Final Itinerary:
Day 1 - May 19. Windigo to Grace Harbor (Backcountry Camp)
Day 2 - May 20. Grace Harbor to Feldtmann Lake
Day 3 - May 21. Feldtmann Lake to Siskiwit Bay
Day 4 - May 22. Backcountry Day Hike to Lake Halloran (Stay 2nd night at Siskiwit Bay)
Day 5 - May 23. Siskiwit Bay to Washington Creek
Day 6 - May 24. Windigo to Grand Portage via the Voyager II

Notes/Other: Trying to schedule at least 1 backcountry night. Not sure if I will bring fishing equipment this year. If I do, I may plan on staying some extra time at Siskiwit Bay and attempt a backcountry dayhike to Lake Halloran for some fishing. If I have enough energy after the Lake Halloran adventure, I may move to a backcountry campsite further up on Siskiwit Bay; did not accomplish move to backcountry site due to weather.

Hometown: Imlay City, MI
Arrival Date: We're thinking mid to late August
Departure Date: 5 days later
Coming From/Via: Copper Harbor
Itinerary: Uncertain
Notes/Other: This would be our first trip to the island. We are undecided on whether to take our little kayaks (Old Town Otters which are strictly for small inland lakes and marsh - well-tested in the backcountry of northern Ontario) or whether to do our first backpack trip ever. :?:

Are we going to do that application again this year where you can add your intinerary to the digital calader that was posted at the top of what I thought was the Trip Report section that I am in now? I know this allowed us to see if we would be on the island at the same time other forum members were going to be. It was pretty cool.

I see you are taking advantage of Ranger III's birthday anniversary rates of $30 each way. I wish the ship's birthday was in Early-May or Late September to avoid bugs :)

As far as your itinerary is concerned. I like it, except I would skip North Desor. If anything I would stay at Little Todd or just hoof it all the way to Windigo. I know McCargoe to Windigo might be pushing it, but you only live once and I'm all about getting a nice workout. One day, this will of course be without my girlfriend (lol), I plan to hike from Rock Harbor to Windigo in the same day. Why do I want to do it? The hell if I know. Perhaps it will be to see what the Rangers reaction is when she is inputing my Day 1 into the computer HA HA HA The next question he or she will probably ask me is if this is my first time on the island and if I have ever done just a great distance before. I will play along and explain how this is my first time backpacking period just to see where the conversation goes HA HA HA In all seriousness, I think I want to do it, because naturally I love doing long hard days and taking an occasional rest day here and there when I think my body deserves it. It would be a nice challenge.
