If that's ordinary-old window screening, I'm going to guess about 3" across. That would have scared the crap out of me.

I think he was a bit bigger than that. That screen is the front of a shelter.

We visited IR in late September 2012...from Australia! Its a long way but we had a fantastic time on the island, though we nearly froze the first night, but we were very fortunate when 2 local researchers working on the island lent us their down-filled sleeping bags for the next 2 nights! We met some great people including 3 local Minnesotans that were kind enough to take us out on their (small!) boat into Washington Harbor for a cruise on a dull grey evening that suddenly developed into a spectacular sunset...one of the highlights of our entire trip that also had us venturing across to Voyageurs NP before heading east to Acadia in Maine, all the while driving through the most amazing autumn colours we had ever seen. We have now visited 50 of the 59 USA National Parks, and IR left us with some of our best memories.
cheers Andrew :D

Thanks! Taken from the end of the big dock at Windigo - Beaver Island in the center. GREAT sunset on my last night. Yes, taken with a 10-24mm using a ND grad filter.
