What are you spending your REI dividend on? 2015 edition
Gack, I'm late to post this thread...my dividend just arrived in the mail!
REI members, when you get your dividend and choice 20% off coupon (coupon code 20REWARDS), what are you going to spend it on?
For me, I'll be buying a new 30-degree-ish sleeping bag...since my last one went missing. It's not an Isle Royale bag for me (brr!), but it is for other camping trips.
So, what are you going to buy?

Everything I bought was on sale, so no dividend here.

I'm thinking a new Platypus 3L Big Zip, with a Sawyer Mini as an inline & gravity filter. Replaces my current gravity setup to save a little weight/bulk.

I'm in Don's boat. The curse of thrifty buying, no dividend.

dito on the sale rack... on another note, a 30ish bag is too cold for IR? I bring my 45 and am warm some nights. Different definitions of cold I guess. Happy shopping!

Yikes! I've perjured myself.
The dividend mailer showed up today and when I opened it... lo and behold $2.37.
For the life of me, I can't remember what I bought that wasn't on sale.

Like Fonix, I figured a sleeping bag was in order. I decided that a 20% off coupon applied against a Marmot Helium sleeping bag was too good to pass upon, so I bit. So, the next time I'm at a shelter at Moskey in early May, with a wind sweeping up the basin, I figure I'm set!
Oh, and since I was updating my bag, I figured/justified/bamboozled to myself that I may as well try out one of those NeoAir XLites all the whipper-snappers are talking about.
They had the 2014 models at 30% off, but then when I tested the 2015 style with the new surface material and what seems a quieter construction, I went for that instead. So far I'm a fan, just because I was actually able to wrap it up and put it back into it's stuff sack... A feat I don't think I was ever able to do with my self-inflating Thermarest I've been carrying for 20 years.
(Oh, and my dividend was <$20 or so, so I may have splurged.)

You guys know that if you have an REI Visa card you can use it on any purchases and get 1% back towards a rebate?
I use mine for gas purchases, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, etc.
I got a rebate of $172+. Add that to the 20% off coupon and looks like Wally might be getting new hiking boots.

I ended up using my whopping $2.37 dividend to buy a Granite Gear #4 Portage pack.

Between my dividend, coupon and free shipping, I could not afford not to buy the new Osprey Atmos AG 65 backpack. Should get it in a day or so

Re: What are you spending your REI dividend on? 2015 edition
I didn't need anything for myself so I spent my dividend and discount on a new pair of boots for my daughter.
Her boots began to fall apart at Island Mine last year and gave me a source of stress all the way to Rock Harbor. The failure was due to age (glue and rubber breaking down) and wasn't a reflection on the manufacturers quality. I've worn that brand for years, my niece was happy with my selection of that brand for her, and my daughter went for it again with her purchase.
My parachute cord field repair at Island Mine helped to impede total sole separation and we were a mile short of Rock Harbor on the Tobin Harbor trail before a pebble finally made it into the toe area. The cord didn't even wear all the way through after all of those miles.

I spent my REI dividend on new socks. I have all kinds of gear that I am satisfied with, but socks do eventually wear out......

Gimp-
The boots that were replaced still look like everything but the rubber sole are good. Check out this site www.davepagecobbler.com/. This guy will resole teh boots and i have a friend who had it done. great work. I'm on my second pair myself and just haven't mailed my boots to this guy. Just a suggestion. (its like $60, and boom, second life boots, and those boots retail over $200)
