Windigo Itinerary-Sept. Solo 5 night/6 day

Post by Solo311 + »

Fortunate to be on my way to the island by seaplane for trip 5 in mid-September for solo 6 day/5 night trip. 4 hiking trips and one kayak trip accomplished, always with hiking/paddling partner, this will be my first solo and cannot wait! Looking for some trip itinerary guidance. All past hiking trips have been on east end -west as far McCargoe Cove. Originally planned to hike from Rock Harbor to Windigo via Greenstone, to say I've hiked the length of the island, but after reading volumes of forum trip posts, I'm considering Feldtmann Loop - clockwise and Huginnin cove counterclockwise. Also, high on my list is Little Todd. Based on many post reviews of the above three, I would like to get this in on one trip? I may be able to get in a 6th night. Thoughts, suggestions appreciated. This forum is a great source and I appreciate the opportunity to post.

I would think fairly tough to do in your limited time.

Fly to Windigo, take Voyageur to McCargo, hike to L Todd, Huginnin loop on way in to Wash. Creek, Feldtmann loop either way if you have time?

Perhaps the two loops, save the Minong for a future trip.

I agree that it would be tough to do all that in one trip. Suggest F. Loop, as you propose, with Hugginin at the end. Clockwise is my preferred direction on the loop. I did a few trip reports on that route, all posted under reports. Enjoy.
