Siskiwit Bay may be noisy

Post by Ingo »

From the NPS website: "The Siskiwit Bay dock will be closed for replacement starting July 15. Expect heavy machinery, noise, and construction workers. Backpackers seeking solitude should consider an alternate campground."

They didn’t by chance say how long this construction will last? I have planned 2 nights there in September long done by then? Government work always scares me 😳

No, that's all they said. I would hope they'd have it done, but with location, weather and covid I wouldn't bet on anything. Personally I'd have a plan B in mind (like only 1 night) and then call the park service if the notice is still up a couple weeks before the trip. You can check here: https://www.nps.gov/isro/planyourvisit/conditions.htm

As a consolation, depending on when in September, Island Mine could be S-P-E-C-T-A-C-U-L-A-R. Fall is the only time I like that camp, nestled among the maples.

Ditto Tom’s thoughts about Island Mine. Fall Colors and individual fire pits!
