What are you spending your 2022 REI dividend on?

Post by fonixmunkee »

I think it's that time of year. When we REI members get to wander the aisles of REI looking at shiny and colorful things that we may or may not need to enhance our outdoor experience.

So, what are you looking to spend your 2022 REI dividend on when it gets released?

While I don't "need" another stove, I like the idea of this:

I recently learned about Tenacious Tape as an alternative to duct tape and am excited to pick up a roll and try it out. Currently my emergency kit has the last few feet of a duct tape roll (with the inner cardboard removed) and I ended up using it twice on my trip to IR last summer when I ripped the knee of my pants and my camp sandals starting falling apart. Interested to try something specifically designed to patch gear! https://www.rei.com/product/783045/gear ... epair-tape

My list isn't terribly exciting. The best item will probably be a pair of Altra Lone Peak 5's (or who knows, maybe 6's). I've become a convert to trail runners for backpacking and have just about destroyed my previous pair of 4.5's.

Other than that, I need some new rain pants, as my previous pair are finally self-destructing after 10 years of hard use.

Probably a percolator for car camping trips and a new pair of trail runners. Can’t go wrong with an extra set of darn tough socks too!

Binoculars, 8x32, not too big to carry on a canoe trip.

I had 18$ to spend. I got a lightweight coffee cup, a beams and rice dinner and a granola bar (going to the Grand canyon next month). I got 8 cents left. Hmmm

I way overspent my $18 dividend! But the 20% off was nice.

Gravity filter. First trip to Isle Royale, taking a small group of Scouts, figured we need a water filter for the trip and I’ll be happy to have it for future hikes with the family.

My gravity filter is the second best* gear I've ever decided to add. You'll love it.

* First is a bug net. Can't do without!

Also trying trail runners on my training hikes. I like the light weight and the cushioning, but haven’t yet done ten miles on a rocky trail with a 30-pound pack.
