Compare and Contrast: Lane Cove to McCargoe vs. McCargoe to Lane Cove

Post by S_R_L »

I'm contemplating where to fit this journey into my trip. I've hiked all of the trail in question at one point or another so I know what to expect from the terrain. Starting at Lane would be day two of the trip whereas ending at Lane would be day six.
Is there a consensus as to which direction is better to travel?

Thanks!

A lighter pack later in the trip is worth considering given the elevation change to/from Lane Cove.

I agree with Vandy because you will need to carry extra water for that long stretch on the Greenstone without any access to water. I hiked McCargoe to Lane Cove last June and I wished that I'd brought an extra liter of water because it got so hot up on the ridge.
