Looking for a specific ISRO map

Post by RedLeg »

So this is a long shot but I'm looking for map :) When we register our itinerary with the park, they have a large flat map under plexiglass that has the Easting and Northing lines with labeled grid squares for identifying zones for back country camping. Does anyone know where I can locate that map?

I'm going to explore if that data is exportable via ARCgis, but data in that format I would need to work a bit to manipulate in order to make it a transparent map layer or merge it on to existing topography maps. I started tinkering with exporting and creating custom Garmin maps after wanting to see the map data in some decade+ Garmin ISO images I had archived.

I just want it for my reference sake but if I can locate it as a data set I can possibly merge it in to some existing ISRO & Michigan topo map sets I've exported. I know this is a long shot but I figure if the map is out there someone here might be able to help locate it.

Thanks everyone!

Sounds like a long shot, but if it does exist, it's probably buried on an NPS server.
I did a cursory search here and didn't find anything, but it may be somewhere if you're motivated to dig into it ...

You could also try calling and/or emailing the NPS in Houghton--you never know!

I might just reach out to the Park Service in Houghton next week. I will dig through the data, I wasn't aware that NPS has a public ArcGIS data archive.

Is it possible that its local county Plat map data to identify the locations?

I have a Keweenaw County plat book (circa 2000). It only has a general map of Isle Royale, not anything detailed.
