Harmful Algae Blooms

Post by Yankee Dog »

Does a bloom in one part of a lake contaminate the water in the entire lake. What about downstream creeks. The FS website implies you just need to move to a different part of the lake. If so, how far away do you need to move to ensure good water.

I would not drink any water from a lake that's having an algae bloom. While it might be initially localized to one area of the lake, (1) that can change quickly, and (2) it's hard to be sure at the moment you're there. That would go for outflow creeks too.
