Wolf Island
Thank goodness for my local library. I am now reading the book for the second time, written by L. David Mech with Greg Breining with a foreword by Rolf O. Peterson. It's "Wolf Island". I'm now considering another trip up to this nice place (ISRO NP). For those who haven't been there, maybe you should try this national park. For the rest of us, you should enjoy also reading this book.

Re: Wolf Island
Our local library had a copy too.
At age 87, David Mech has a treasure trove of tales to tell from a lifetime of observations and scientific inquiry. During his early work there was much conjecture and superstition about wolf behavior but little knowledge based upon actual field biology work. It's fair to say that he set the stage for decades of inquiry to come after him.
Thanks for your recommendation.

First visit 1982. Last visit August, 2024. Isle Royale is my favorite National Park!
