Snowshoe Tracks????

Post by treeplanter »

I just noticed what appear to be snowshoe tracks up on the Greenstone. I was wondering if the winter study had begun, so I guess it has. Or am I looking at something else? Thoughts?

Must have... those don't appear to be from a 4 legged creature. Interesting there appears to be two sets of different tracks there. They converge behind that small tree then vanish until the top of the picture where it looks like the two pair are walking one in front of the other the rest of the way out of the picture.

The left set looks like something was sinking into the snow and then dragging the foot out and forward as they moved; probably from a weight difference between the two or different types of snowshoes possibly. The left set almost look like they were made by the old school teardrop (I think of army issue) snowshoes as opposed to more modern designs.

I had to blow the pic up at home, the phone screen doesn't do it justice

Lot more activity today, February 1st. Look like ski-tracks along the bottom edge of the photo.

I feel like this is a setup for a Far Side cartoon involving sly moose deploying used winter sports equipment to trick humans into something…but if it’s not, I’m supremely envious of the humans making those tracks!

Perhaps, but it seems unlikely that those tracks would be visible on the camera.

And the size of the tracks we do see seem to indicate something larger.

It looks gorgeous, but I'm not a fan of winter sports at all and leave it to those of you much hardier than I am.
