Hi - we're planning a 4 night backpacking trip for mid-August and would like to work some fishing into the trip. We'll be starting at Rock Harbor. Any tips for lakes that would offer good shore fishing? Also, I'd appreciate any advise on a rod/reel that would work well for backpacking.

Thanks!
Eric

What is your intinerary?

The itinerary isn't set, but we're considering:

Option 1
Tuesday: (arrive 3pm on Ranger III in Rock Harbor) - hike 7.1 miles to Daisy Lane
Wednesday: hike 6.1 miles to Chickenbone East (fish)
Thursday: hike 10.9 miles to Lane Cove
Friday: hike 6.9 miles to Rock Harbor (fish)
Saturday: (leave 9am on Ranger III from Rock Harbor)

Option 2
Tuesday: (arrive 3pm on Ranger III in Rock Harbor) - hike 7.1 miles to Daisy Lane
Wednesday: hike 7.9 miles to Chickenbone West (fish)
Thursday: hike 12.5 miles to Three Mile
Friday: hike 2.7 miles to Rock Harbor (fish)
Saturday: (leave 9am on Ranger III from Rock Harbor)

We're open to suggestions (For example, Ritchie looks good, but I'm having trouble coming up with an itinerary to go there and back without too much backtracking.) Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Eric
