"Whatever you say, Dear." What a fantastic, dead panned line.

The four most used words in my vocabulary!! I will not post publically what those four words REALLY mean!

Ok, I am re-thinking how the trip report will be done and I have decided to do it on a separate page and site. Mostly because it is easier and allows you to control how the videos display. You Tube was just to controlling and unknown for me. Anyway, as I create the pages, I am going to send a teaser... Hope you enjoy! I am also watching the Tigers play so, things are a bit delayed... Coming soon, to a web board near you...http://youtu.be/0yjlAY7IF74

Can't wait to see it Mike. I was one of those who was supposed to be on the boat. We were in Wisconsin when we turned around they day before. According to Captain Don we couldn't get picked up any more on our original pickup date and we couldn't extend our vacation to his next pick up so we had to reschedule.

Looking forward to seeing the conditions.

Ok, here is the first part of the Trip Report. This is "The Prelude". I hope to have "Day One" posted late tonight or first thing Monday. The next ones will be released as they are completed and uploaded (which takes time as we have satellite internet).

If there are some things that need to be changed to make them easier to view, email me with your suggestions. Including video links on a web page is new to me.
The first one can be found at:http://www.isleroyale.info/ir13.html
Hope you enjoy it! :D

Nice Christmas carol during the movie. Seems appropriate for the white conditions.

I remember the drive back on Friday after we turned around in Wi. There was a crazy temperature difference in a short distance. I was talking to my wife and driving around the bottom of Lake Michigan near St Joe and I recall the weather was predicted for something like 65. The wife was complaining about the forecast being like almost 20 degrees off and I was agreeing with her as the truck said 41. Then she started talking about sweating and being so hot and I couldn't figure out what she was talking about until she said it was over 80 degrees in Grand Rapids. I couldn't believe there was a 40 degree swing in temps from St Joe to Gr and then I started watching the temp come up a degree or two every couple of miles. It was so weird. Like watching the odometer.

Really weird weather last spring. Great start to your report. I'm looking forward to "the rest of the story "(said in my best Paul Harvey voice)

That and all the jokes on the board about using our canoe as a sled. Let me tell ya though, that kevlar sure is slippery on the snow. Kinda like in "Christmas Vacation" when Clark put that spray on the bottom of the metal sled, he took off like a bullet. Our canoe was similar.

I hear they treat that Kevlar with a "new non caloric silicone based kitchen lubricant".

Really helps cut through the water ; )

I have posted the page for Day 1 of the trip. I have found it is best to let the page completely load before clicking on links. The pictures are large, but I wanted to keep the quality. Same with the videos. They are smaller in dimension than what YouTube delivers, but are a higher resolution with the file size being about the same.

Love the loon song at the end. That call is a hauntingly beautiful thing. Love it.

The video provided an excellent "ride along" with you to Tookers Island. What was the water temperature in Rock Harbor?
