For the end of August, (2018), for a Windigo cabin.
I had called the first day of the new year, (2018), that the office was open. I had no problem! It is a mad rush. More people on the planet every year.

Update from our visit this summer (late June)- on a whim, after getting our permit we checked in at the store and wowza! Someone cancelled and a cabin was available all week. We decided to go to Siskowit Bay for two nights and stay in the cabins the other nights. We prepaid and obtained the numeric code for the door so that we could roll in late on our arrival day. Quite happy with the cabin, the grill, the loaner set of dishes/utensils.

So miracle cancellations do happen...
