Thank you, torpified. I consider you to be the master of the genre. In fact, is it really required that you describe actual, IRL trips to the island in your trip reports? Couldn't you just put out a new one, cataloguing an imaginary trip, every few weeks? This would be especially helpful in the off-season.

Fabricating trip reports is a nice idea, but I have no imagination. Also, I'm thinking of devoting my off-season energies to a startup cottage business: ultralight prosthetic body parts for the poor souls (who are probably the majority of the human race) whose bodies don't conform to the assumptions backpack manufactures make about them. It can sell you and dclark prosethetic hips. My deformity is that my middle isn't the right shape to hold the hipbelt in place---it creeps UP, and my shoulders wind up waging a war against a jostly backpack trying to fall off me backwards. So I could use a prosthetic waist.

So, fake reports: no. Fake hips: possibly. Roger that.
