After much deliberation, here is my *final* plan:
Arrive on Saturday at McCargoe via Voyageur II, hike to Todd Harbor
Su - Todd Harbor to Hatchet Lake
M - Hatchet Lake to S Lake Desor
T - S Lake Desor to Island Mine
W - Island Mine to Siskwit
Th - Siskwit to Feldmann
F- Feldmann to Windigo
Depart the island via Voyageur II on Sunday
Taking the advice of everyone, this builds in at least one extra day. If we don't end up needing it I figure we can either make a quick overnight loop trip to Huginnin Cove on Sat/Sun or we can just hang around Windingo and rent kayaks, etc.
I'm stoked about this itinerary. Hopefully it fleshes out with those in the know.

Looks like a great plan/trip! Like others have said, you will be back!
I just saw your dates. I am tentatively planning on taking the Voyageur II out to Isle Royale and back to Grand Portage on those same dates! I look forward to meeting you and talking about your trip.

Very nice itinerary. The route covers a wide variety of what the island has to offer. You will get to travel portions of the islands' backbones (Minong, Greenstone, and Feldtmann Ridges) along with staying at Lake Superior and inland lake campsites. And no back-tracking!

A great route and trip. I have done it several times. You chose Todd Harbor over McCargo and neither choice would be wrong.

Staying in McCargoe on our first night was also a consideration, but I think I want to save the "extra" night for later in the trip if need be. We'll see!

The good news is, you can make that decision on the fly. The itinerary you give to rangers in Windigo will just be a suggestion!

Here is my mug shot. I will be the tall, thin dirt bagger with a green Wenonah canoe!
I think spending an extra day in Washington Creek/Harbor is a good way to end a memorable trip. There are some good day hiking options. You can rent a canoe/kayak and do some paddling. You will be able to sit on the deck of the new store and drink a cup of coffee or a beer while looking over Washington Harbor and sharing stories with other members of the tribe!
