This pic was taken in 1990 at the Duncan Bay Narrows campground. Note the collar on the wolf. If I remember the story correctly, one of the wolf’s paws was injured when it was trapped to install the collar and never healed properly. It could no longer keep up with the pack so became a loner. It took up residence near several campgrounds and scavenged for food. The “pinkish blob” you see between the wolf and the shore is a fish some fisherman camping at Duncan Bay Narrows campground left for it. I don’t believe the wolf made it through the following winter.

Who planted this garden? Normally, I can't say I'm into wildflowers but I really enjoy seeing them on our IR trips. It's interesting too the way they change with the time of year.

This dates back to 1991. Several of us kayaked to Chippewa Harbor where we stayed in a shelter for three days. We hiked all over the area, as well as kayaked. On our last day there, a father/son combo hiked in from Moskey. They had the shelter next to ours. They were there less than 30 minutes when these two boys found this moose antler right next to our shelter. We never saw it.

Rock of Ages lighthouse taken from the Voyager on its way to Grand Portage. It was so still that day, you could have paddled to Isle Royale on an air mattress.

Beautiful photo! Hopefully I can get the random-image header to come back so we can use this one.

This is (was) a stand of old-growth White Spruce located just north of the Three Mile campground. Pic was taken in 1989. I bored some of the trees with my increment borer and they were about 150 years old, meaning they became stablished around 1840. I walked through this stand last year and most of the trees are now dead. Growing in their place is a new stand of young Balsam Fir and White Spruce saplings.
