Along the Greenstone Trail in the Hall of Birch. Trees on either side leaned across the trail here to create a Grand Hall effect.

Heh! He showed me his bum, too.
Spotted that bull...and a cow...together. Watched 'em from 60-70 feet away for over a half hour. Lots of pix & video.
Then :45 further down the Greenstone, spotted a cow and a calf!

I'm surprised that I caught the dragonfly in the frame.

Butterflies at West Chickenbone Lake at 6:30 AM on June 26, 2002. The swarm was beautiful, but the smell was terrible. They must have been feasting on something that died.

We came off the Greenstone and pumped water in a little stream between lakes Chickenbone and Livermore and saw this frog (or toad - can anybody help?). This little creature sat near us the entire time.

Contemplation on Isle Royale:
I've always liked this photo for some reason. We came off the Greenstone and were pumping water in a little stream between lakes Chickenbone and Livermore.
A 13 year old boy sits quietly contemplating his future in a beautiful spot.
Perhaps he is thinking about how hot it was backpacking all day and how his feet hurt and how he never wants to do this again. Actually, I am quite sure I heard him say those very words in June 2002!
Both boys were on their first High Adventure trip. Both boys are now Eagle Scouts.
