Is the trail from McCargoe Cove to Todd Harbor difficult to follow? I have read a couple postings where people had to backtrack a few times. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. We land on 8/21/2010.

Moving at an average speed how long should it take to get from McCargoe Cove to Todd Harbor?

Thanks

In my opinion, it's not that hard to follow. It's probably the easiest section of the Minong to tackle, with limited water crossings, and you're only up on a couple ridges. It's on the ridges of the Minong where route finding is more difficult, but just look for the rock cairns, and understand that for the most part, you will climb up and back down on the southern face of the various hills.
Off the ridges, it's basically a footpath in the woods. Most backtracking occurs in a different section of the Minong; namely on the West side of Little Todd.

My notes say the last time we hiked it, we did it in 2:35 on trail, 3:00 with breaks. However, we were rushing to beat a storm blowing in... But I would say 3 - 3.5 hours of hiking would do it.

Good luck! Both McCargoe and Todd Harbor is a great campsites!
