REUNION

Hello everyone.
This may sound a little bit weird, and I don't mean for it to. Would anyone see it crazy to mention on here a specific time when alot of forum readers might be on the island and everyone meets up to catch up? It seems to me that hikers who frequent the island because they love the place, would find alot in common sittin down at sunset over a cup of coffee in person. Not a meet and greet don't get me wrong. It would just be great to actually meet some of you that always respond to our questions. Isle Royale is a special place and it is a unique person who visits it.

I was hoping for this year sometime yet, I got lucky and got a cabin pick for Mount Leconte, so have to schedule around that. We backpacked up there last year, but styaed in the shelter. Was cold and miserable all night and missed the sunset due to hoofin it up tha alum trail.

If you want to do the work, you could go through the trip planning thread and figure out when most folks have planned their trips and start from there.

I've said it before, but probably what I love most about this forum is the opportunity to make connections and make 'friends' with folks on the Isle. Through the trip log, both on this forum and the former, I've had the chance to personally 'set down for coffee' with more than a handful of you.
I do like the idea of a 'meet-up' if it would ever work. How's Friday, June 17th look for everyone? Windigo?
It just so happens to be the first run of the Sea Hunter III (to be renamed, probably for next year), and I was contemplating making arrangements to join the first voyage. Since she's taking over for the Wenonah, it could be just a day trip for folks, or the start of an adventure...
Knowing how long some of these ferries are kept in service, it just seems like it might be one of those "I was there when.." moments.

Anyone wanna join me? :)
