I will be making my first trip to Isle Royale late this June with a friend of mine and we will be canoeing. The plan is to canoe from Rock Harbor to Moskey Basin and to complete the southern loop of lakes back to Rock harbor in ten days. We plan on fishing as much as possible, any suggestions for good places or baits? Also, I have heard the bugs are bad in June. Is this true? Any suggestions on canoe size or type? Otherwise any all around comments on this type of trip?

What are your options for a canoe? And how much experience to you have? 16' - 17' are typical 2 person canoes but overall design is important. You'll have a 2+ mile portage so weight is a consideration also.

Bugs in June or July? Nah, they are practically non-existant
