I thought I'd been keeping my eye on it. Did it sneak out and back earlier this week? It's presently in port in Houghton.
Anyway, Here's a webcam where you can keep an eye on it.

Posted Tues (4/24) on FB by the IRKPA:
"She's on her way! The Ranger III departed just after 9:30 this beautiful morning--the first trip of freight season to set up National Park Service operations on Isle Royale for 2012. Among the passengers are members of the wolf/moose study team, along with National Park Service staff. Bon voyage!"

I check out the MTU webcams almost daily and started to become more vigilant lately knowing the season was starting.
I blink my eyes and let my guard down and they "sneak" out and back in right under my nose.
This daylight picture is slightly more clear:

Ya you silly gooses. I made mention that she was leaving on 4/24 about a month ago. She went to Windigo to drop of the first load of crew and equipment. I wanted to be on that particular departure, but they were not allowing anyone to travel on board the first trip. It you check back on the camera this coming Tuesday you might see me waving at you if you look close enough

I'll be teaching school at that time Tuesday morning but if you head to the bow as you exit from under the Portage Lift Bridge, maybe the PastyCam Bridge Cam will capture you waving your arms.

Well I hope so because there was supposedly light snow flurries reported on the weather channel site during last week. I have a 25 degree bag that Im going with so I should be fine, but hopefully it doesn't drop too much lower than that if I find myself there on very cold night.

How does that camera work? And where do I see it. I am trying to find it on the website that is listed below the picture, but am having no luck finding it from the main page. By the way, what do you teach and do you teach in Houghton. I have my degree in elementary education and am looking forward to teacher junior high science one of these days

But ya, should try to position myself to where I could be seen on the camera

The MTU Tech Fund Cam is updated every second.
http://www.mtu.edu/webcams/fund/motion.html
They store a 24 hour time lapse movie every day, but the resolution is reduced to 5 minutes.

Clicking on April 24 and 25 will show the Ranger leaving and returning. The low morning eastern sun presents a lot of shadows. You’d probably have to hold up a sign to be recognized for sure.
The Pasty Central web cam is a much closer view and much higher resolution photo which is normally updated every five minutes. The manual update button is toward the bottom of the page. I don’t see where they publish past recordings but I bet they archive them. You'd need a little luck hitting the right mark at the five minute interval. It would be interesting to try.

I don’t have a teaching degree, just an engineering one. A few weeks per year I teach technical classes at my company for internal consumption by our service technicians.
