Making kayaking on Supperior look like childs play, so this guy has to have a big cockpit... it would take a biger pair than mine to want to paddle all the way across the open ocean dodging hurricanes.

You should read the book "Alone at Sea," which chronicles Hannes Lindemann's solo-paddle across the Atlantic Ocean in the mid-1950's. He actually did it twice, once in a dugout canoe, and the other in Klepper folding kayak. An absolutely fascinating read.

The photographer from the NG article was also a major character in Joe Kane's great book Running the Amazon. That book is quite a paddling adventure too, and a wonderful read.
