I found the sad news on my lunch hour. It looks like the lone female wolf known as Isabelle crossed to the main land and died.

Hopefully other wolves will come across the ice bridge to replace her loss.

Well, nature can be cold and cruel.

I just read that Rolf Peterson reports that no wolves have crossed over from the mainland to the island. At least not yet.

It mentions the death of another adult too. I haven't seen anything about that. Does anyone have a link? The Wolf Moose Study site hasn't finished posting this years notes fromthe field.

This is the article I read. Makes mention of the death of the other wolf, but gives no details.

The next moose/wolf study blog update should be interesting.

It is a compelling mystery as to what has been keeping the Winter Study group from being able to update. There may be some major wolf movement across frozen Superior besides the sad example of Isabella. Check everyday waiting for any news.
