We got off the first boat at McCargoe and changed into our running clothes. We later did the Minong and I'll share about that soon, but here are some pictures and narrative of our run. Hope you enjoy.

Kevin,
Thanks for the report. That would be a tough run. Even tougher this time of year and under these circumstances. Looking forward to the rest of your trip.

reading that I feel like so much less of a man
I would consider that a serious day of backpacking on its own, let alone to RUN it. I tap out after five miles on flat terrain.
congrats on a great run

What a very unique method for a "warm up". Congratulations. I look forward to the remainder of your trip report
Regarding the comment in your trip report about running the entire Greenstone Ridge Trail sometime soon, you might be interested in the efforts of one runner (Eric) who stopped by the these forums in 2012. He set a new record of 8 hr : 47 min : 37 sec in July of 2012. He classified it as a "soft" record, meaning he thought it was quite beatable.

Thanks Midwest Ed. I remember reading those, as well as the magazine article about the ranger and his brother who did Rock Harbor to Windigo. Both are admirable times and runs. I think if I were to do it I would run Rock Harbor to Windigo as opposed to Eric's route to keep the logistics simpler. It's a run that's been in my head some time now.

Am I suppose to click a link somewhere on Kevin's website to access the rest of the trip report or has it just not be posted yet? Sometimes I miss those blasted little hyperlinks or forget to click an index so that the other subfields are displayed.

Look in the right column at the top of the post you just read. The other blog posts are dated and one is named "Isle Royale, Minong Trail, First Boat 2014"
Or just click here:
