Accessing Ducan bay by land?
I'm spending time later this week on the east end and would like to visit Duncan Bay. Does anyone have experience or know if it is possible hiking from the Greenstone or from Lane Cove to Duncan?

There's a portage (trail) from Tobin Harbor to Duncan Bay that intersects the Greenstone 3.4 miles from the Lane Cove trail. About 6 miles total from Lane Cove. Don't know about bushwacking, but I think it would be pretty rough as most off-trail travel on the island is.

Duncan Bay access from the Greenstone Ridge Trail would be fairly simple. There is a portage trail from Duncan Bay to Tobin Harbor. It goes up and over the Greenstone ridge so therefore the two trails cross. The intersection should be roughly about 1 to 1-1/2 miles from Lookout Louise and about 3 to 3-1/2 from Mt. Franklin. The distance from the Ridge to Duncan Bay on the portage trail can't be more than 1/4 to 1/3 mile. More accurate distances will take a little more effort. Access from Lane Cove would require about 2 miles of bushwacking, which is more difficult on this end of the island.
