Can anyone recommend a good pair of thermal underwear? Please tell me about the brand and the type of fabric/material it's made of. Thx

Polar Max here. Wicks great, dries fast and is comfortable on your skin. Started using it last fall and really like it.
Here's an example:

I use army polypro. It is cheap, and effective. Will keep you warm even when wet.

I have been using Patagonia Capilene for about 25 years now and have been pleased at its performence. Some folks balk at the price, I buy it when it is on sale.
In the last few years, I have been playing with merino wool long undies and have been pleased with the performence. Again, pricey, I buy it on sale. I have Patagonia icebreaker and LL Bean. I found a merino wool union suit that is great for ice fishing.

I'm kinda old school, I like merino wool. The stuff from Woolpower.

If it gets colder than my mid-weight Capilene can handle, I head farther south.
