3 new Weather Bouys added to South Lake Superior
Three new buoys have been deployed along the southern shore of Lake Superior by Northern Michigan University through a grant from the Great Lakes Observing System. The three buoys are located near Granite Island, Pictured Rocks, and Grand Marais. Valuable wind and wave information, among other conditions, will be provided by the buoys well into fall, and again next year. You can find real-time data from these buoys here: www.ndbc.noaa.gov/?lat=46.7&lon=-86.8&zoom=9

Re: 3 new Weather Bouys added to South Lake Superior
I wish there was some interest in the northern portion of the lake's conditions. The three new bouys are too close to shore for any real navigation purposes or information that could help with making a decision to sail or not. One on each end of the island 7-8 miles from shore would really give a good picture of what's happening.
