We will be traveling to the island in Aug. Was curios what everyone thought about our itinerary? it will be my parntners first backpacking trip. Both of us are in fairly good condition and phisically preping for the trip.

Aug 18 Arrive in Rock harbor and take water taxi to daisy farm, hike to Moskey Basin, spend night.
Aug 19 Chippewa harbor
Aug 20 Lake Richie or West Chicken bone
Aug 21 McCargo Cove
Aug 22 Todd Harbor
Aug 23 Hatchet Lake or Lake Desor
Aug 24 Lake Desor or Malone Bay
Aug 25 Malone Bay
Aug 26 Malone bay or water taxi back to Rock Harbor
Aug 27 Water taxi to Rock Harbor then Isle Royale Queen back to Copper Harbor

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I am guessing that you mis-typed and meant to stop at Moskey the first night. :-)

. I see that you have the water taxi the 26 and 27? I don't think the taxi runs without reservations. are you paying for two return trips?

I've not stayed at W Chicken bone, I like McCargo better and it is almost all downhill. It's worth the extra hours or so to me.
Todd to Desor is a long day, but not terrible.
The rest looks like a nice relaxed trip.
Don't forget to pick up a 100 year NPS T-shirt on the way out.

Thank you! I did make a typo. I'm trying to decide if I should reserve the water taxi back to Rock harbor the day before we leave to go back to Copper Harbor and spend the last night there or reserve the taxi on the same day as we leave back to Copper harbor. Any thoughts?

Spend a day in RH prior to leaving for CH; hike the Stoll trail or go to Suzy's Cave.

I agree, I like to spend a night at rock harbour to hike Stoll trail, grab souvenirs and have a meal or two, shower, etc. Scoville point is a nice place for lunch. If you do a later arrival (not morning) to Rock Harbour, you can have a relaxed morning, explore around camp, arrive at rock harbour for shower and dinner with an evening walk. The next day (some of it) can be spent shopping and day hiking before heading home.
