The Ranger III is making her first trip of the year today with supplies and equipment. Passenger service starts May 30th.

Isn't that a little later (at least a week) than normal?

I don't know the average or normal first date for the Ranger III (it's always at the mercy of weather and maintenance issues) but Island operations began this year on April 21st with the NPS LCM Angelique.

Still, the NPS did announce that the park was open on April 16th. (see further below on the Facebook link above). I've wondered from time to time if any private boaters make use of the April dates. I'd be up for it.
