I'd like to spend a night on Beaver Island when I'm there next week. Can't seem to find any transportation options. Water taxi, maybe? Does anyone know? Thank you!

Rent a canoe or kayak from the concession at Windigo. I am not aware of water taxi on the Windigo end of the island.

No (correct), there is no water taxi at Windigo. You can also rent a boat and motor.

I was under the impression that boats rented at Windigo needed to be returned the same day?

Hmm, that's probably true--didn't think about that.

Then another option is rent a canoe from the Voyager ferry folks. Call them immediately to determine if they have space available to bring it, and a canoe available. You will pay quite a bit for transport plus rental, but it may be your best option if you are determined to get to Beaver Is. for an overnight.

After a thorough re-reading of the concessions website "Rock Harbor Lodge" I saw some things that seem to be new. While the pricing for boats/motors, canoes and kayaks are all listed for half day (4 hours) and full day (8 hours), ONLY KAYAKS are specifically listed as not available for overnights.

Especially in the Widigo Store sub-link

This is where one will rent canoes, kayaks, and motorboats.
We do not rent kayaks overnight. My emphasis
The Windigo is also where you will check into your camper cabin, you will also rent your bed packs and cooking supplies.
The Windigo Store does offer light food services: frozen pizza, pre-made sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches.

This wording implies that boats and canoes can be kept overnight, but I would double check with the concessionaires ahead of time to avoid last minute surprises. To me, it all sounds a bit unusual so please verify.

I have rented a canoe at Windigo and stayed overnight at Beaver Island. It was a few years ago but I would think you should be able to do it.
