UP mosquitoes must have their governors removed because they seem to keep up anyhow. I end up doing a sort of modern dance with my arms flailing all around my head and body. Head nets are the best hiking purchase I've ever made.
Sounds similar to the age old debate as to whether you get more or less wet by running or walking through the rain. Too bad Mythbusters is not active anymore. They could attempt to check out your theory as they had tried with the rain.

The summer after I graduated from college, I walked the PCT across Washington state with some other people waiting for grad school to start. Somehow or other, I wound up being the one who'd establish camp, then double back to carry the pack of whomever was hurting worst that day. All the members of the party who procreated now have daughters named after me. I take this as evidence that people are very grateful when you carry their packs into camp for them.
One of my former bosses knew I was going to be such a good worker that he named his daughter after me before we even meet.

Someone did that hatchet water run for me when I was 60 lbs fatter and carried a 50 pound pack. So it is the least I could do.
I did get a leach in Feldtman and Hatchet while dangling my feet in the water. The Feldtman guy had been on for a while and I felt my foot and thought it was the biggest blister ever. Plucked him off and threw him out of the tent and he still managed his way 15ft back to lake.

What an epic trip! Thanks for writing up a report that did it justice. I especially admired your team's perseverance and resourcefulness in the face of unanticipated and unpleasant developments, and also the balance of cohesion and individuality you struck.

Are there pictures? I'd love to see the gaiters you fashioned from the wrong trousers.
