Northern Pike Legal Limit 30" Max
I noticed in the Superintendent's Compendium (can't believe johnhens hasn't posted it yet
) that the legal limit for Northerns on Inland Lakes is now a maximum of 30" with no minimum size. I don't if this is new for this year, or earlier, but it used to be a minimum of 24". The rationale is interesting: basically folks trying to catch a legal dinner with multiple catch and releases of small ones did more harm than good. Makes sense knowing northern's propensity for swallowing things whole. I will admit to eating a somewhat small northern in the past when it could not be expected to survive a release. Michigan regs still apply to Superior waters, I presume.
