I don't think I have seen this addressed in any trip reports. Last year, the building for the new store in Windigo looked almost complete. Has it opened?

I saw someone post on the Facebook group that it wasn't open yet due to a structural issue. I found that a bit baffling given its a new build.

I can confirm that as of 7/13/21, the new Windigo store is NOT open. They received "the last bit of items" the need to finish the store when the Ranger came into Windigo this week. I would not anticipate the new store opening this year.

Also, according to my source that left Windigo on the 13th (my wife), the store in Windigo finally got a big load of provisions. I guess the shelves were BARE up until then. So good news there.

My understanding is that the Park Service has been struggling last season and this season with the massive influx of new visitors to the island. This had led to logistics issues for the NPS. Couple that with the all-too-familiar supply-chain issues we're all facing, and it seems like everything is on its ass out at the park.

Thanks for the information. When i was there last year, the store had almost nothing in stock.

First time I scanned this I read "13th wife"...

I think after wife #4 or 5 I'd have probably given up.

It has reality show written all over it with Isle Royale as the backdrop.

So if Windogo store isn't open, where do I get fuel upon arrival?

The old one is still open. They are talking about the new one.

I was on the island last week and was told zero work has been done on the new building since last year. Equipment will be in soon to dig a trench around it to fix leaking into the lower level.

There was some equipment there on 8/2 and NPS folks walking around and pointing. From what I saw from the Voyageur II.

When I first got to ISRO NP, back in 2001, the store made sandwiches to order. What kind of food, did they have this year?

Hi Jerry. Frozen pizza (late afternoon only), microwave burritos, some cheese, stale bagels and regular snacks.
