Sounds like we just missed out on some fun times at Siskiwit.
I second/third the feeling of there being more inexperienced hikers on the island. I commented to my wife that going this early, you usually meet people who know what they are getting into... Later I had to edit: Or, you met those who have NO idea because they haven't done any homework at all.
In both Feldtmann and Windigo, we ran into several groups we referred to as "the bros". Enthusiastic, loud, prone to walk around shirtless, enjoyed telling people about their gear, but didn't seem to really understand what they were up to.
Edit: And remarkably profane. "F-in use a f-ing smart water bottle, it f-ing slaps!"
