Got this from a friend who was on MW #2 this year, thought I'd share it for those heading to the island shortly.

They were a day late getting to the island because of weather. Most nights were in the 40's and upper 50's / low 60's during the day; however night temps dropped slightly below freezing a couple times. Day time sunshine felt good with a light cool breeze most days.

No bugs or any understory growth the first few days, then spring exploded everything into life.

Overall it was very enjoyabl

Thank you RedLeg.

Heading to the island next week with my 15 year old son, my friend, and his son. Hiking from Windigo to Rock Harbor, planning a straight shot across the Greenstone due to only 4.5 days. Have our bug plan...permethrin sprayed clothing, thermacell, spray, etc...but if anyone has any recent advice on what to plan for or avoid we'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Head nets are critical - I hope you have them! Long sleeves (and long pants) are also important, even with bug spray.
