There was a post on the Reddit sub about violent screaming at south desor. Link below. Assuming these are related.

The OP on reddit said this morning that they've been contacted by the FBI, implying they are connected.

A bit of a separate issue, but this article mentions that "a spokesperson said the deaths are not connected to an apparent arrest that was captured on video last week by U.P. Adventure Company." I hadn't heard anything about that.

I guess it must be this, although I can hardly tell what the video is showing:

I can't find the link, but my impression it was more of a firing of an unruly employee that crossed some kind of line. This was the NPS version of being escorted out of the building by security.

I agree, makes sense. What do they say? There are no coincidences.

I wonder if the redblackrider group, that left South Desor at 11pm to hike the 11 miles to Windigo, came across the 2 rangers in the dark that hiked 11 miles from "somewhere" to the probable crime scene, arriving before dawn.

The redblackrider group left Friday night; the rangers left Sunday night. No possibility of crossing paths.

Good point. That's 11 miles as well.

Although I ask... Would there be a pair of Rangers already at Malone?

I wasn't paying enough attention to the dates. I hereby forfeit my amatuer wilderness detective badge.

Possibly, when I was in Malone in May they had someone out there getting things started up. I assume they were getting the housing ready but IDK. I think the visitor center is usually open & staffed about now based on old log book entries.

Slight update: https://www.nps.gov/isro/learn/news/upd ... tified.htm

It did happen at South Desor (no surprise). The people have been identified and next of kin notified. No names or other information added.

Edit: The TV 6 article says that the NPS confirmed that the deaths were "not animal related", not that I think there was any (serious) speculation about that.
