Heading to Rock Harbor Aug 7, plan to backpack around east end of island--Moskey, E Chickenbone, Mt Ojibway, etc.--and off island Aug 13. I'd appreciate any current bug reports.

Heard this week that Island Mine and S Desor were bad in the evenings, but otherwise not bad on the ridge. Had recent rain, so maybe a bit more than typical this time of year. But haven't needed any dope along the shore, although a few more flies that last day or two.

I can't speak to the east end but just got off the island Sunday.

S Desor was the worst offender for campground mosquitoes and I can confirm passing through Island Mine that they were present there.

The Greenstone was mostly free of them, while the Minong between McCargoe Cove and Todd Harbor, and leading up to the Hatchet Lake Trail, and Feldtmann Lake Trail out of Feldtmann, and Feldtmann Ridge trail out of Siskiwit Bay were the worst (overgrowth = swarms of mosquitoes). I imagine that not much has changed since. This was the worst I've ever seen the mosquitoes among all previous trips during the same period (early August).
