There is a ship captain, Tommy Cook, who is planning to make a solo Arctic trip in his sailboat through the Northwest Passage after navigating his way through the Great Lakes. He left from Two Harbors, Minnesota on April 6th, 2009. He has a website set up to chronicle his journey and it is complete with a blog and a map to chart his progress. He already passed by Isle Royale (April 14th and 15th blog entries) and wrote about his experience with the island. Just thought I'd pass it along in case anyone is interested in reading about it or following his journey. Does anybody on the forum happen to know him or did anybody hear about this on the news?

Re: Arctic Solo Sail & Isle Royale
Yeah, these types of things are very interesting. I have followed a couple of them over the years via iTunes podcasts. One was a CDT thru-hike, another was Andrew Skurka's Great Western Loop, and the other was a kayak trip up the shoreline of Alaska. It gives you a chance to live/hike the adventure vicariously through them. This one has a little more meaning since many of us on this forum live near the Great Lakes and Isle Royale which are some of the areas he will be traveling through.
