After spending 8 days on the island, I imagine I'll need to clean up a bit before perusing the eateries in the Houghton area and the 9 hour drive home. $6 for a 5 minute shower on the island is going to cut it.

Right now, it looks like a trip 25 minutes NW to McLain Sate Park or dinner in Marquette with a stop at Barag State Park (assuming they both have shower facilities, gotta check).

Any other options?

McLain has non-camper showers for $2. You would need a state park sticker to drive in, but there is a parking area outside the gate and you could walk in - it's not too far.

The Aspirus Keweenaw Fitness Center has day passes for $10 - you can just skip the workout and grab a shower/sauna. It's at 700 W. Sharon Ave. Head up M26 towards the mall/walmart - the first traffic light (by the Shell Station and Econo Foods) is Sharon Ave. Take a left. It's several blocks up on the left.

Portage Health Fitness Connection - 600 MacInnes Drive on the campus of Michigan Tech - $5 day pass. This is up the hill from the main campus near the Student Development Complex.
