I talked to Chris yesterday at Park Headquarters and he said Ranger will head over next week to start opening the park. Still some ice here and there but nothing like last year, Chris said more like a normal year. Thats good news, I will be heading out end of May.

Re: Island is Now OPEN
Mother Nature knows the park just opened. Ice out has begun.
I was just having a little fun.
Indeed, there is less ice than last year although I would still expect more snow than normal here and there, as this year's heavy snowfalls came later in the winter.

Catching that first boat.
I've pondered, is there enough snow for skiing sections; maybe to Lane Cove or towards Tobin Harbor?
The ultimate glade run.
How much would the charge be for transport of ski equipment; could be regarded as any other piece of gear/equipment

"And standing on the the crest of the Greenstone Ridge, I suddenly had this desire to retreat north to where I just come, to stay in the backcountry, to spend another day in a place where the only deadline I had was to pitch the tent before dark."

Re: Island is Now OPEN
I've been lobbying the Park to add a webcam to Snug Harbor or maybe move the one at Tobin Harbor. The Tobin Harbor camera has never been very reliable.
