Re: Craig Lake State Park anyone?
Have you ever portaged to Crooked Lake. Looks like about .5 miles. Whats the level of difficulty. I've canoed IR's interior portages as a reference.

Re: Craig Lake State Park anyone?
Is there any way to tell at the launch which sites are occupied? I don't want to paddle all the way to the north part of the lake just to find out the sites are full.

Re: Craig Lake State Park anyone?
I'm planning on a canoe trip at Craig Lake State Park this summer around August. I plan on spending around 4 - 6 days. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on campsites, hiking trails, and fishing.

Re: Esbit solid fuel stove
Thanks guys. After reading that, I think I'll stick to the white gas stoves.

Esbit solid fuel stove
Anyone have any experience with the Esbit solid fuel stove. Just saw this in REI. Looks nice and light, but does it sufficiently heat water quickly? I'm thinking this might be a good emergency stove.

Re: Royale Air Service flights
Thanks Rafiki and Ingo for the advice. I think I'll just keep the original reservations and hope for the best. Thinking back on my past visits to the island, there was only one morning out of 16 that was foggy.
Thanks
Thanks

Royale Air Service flights
Flying into Windigo in late August on an 8:00 am flight with Royale Air Service. Is there anybody have any idea how often the flights are delayed due to weather, or primarily, fog. I've been to the island before, and know about the fog. I've read Royale Air Services delayed flight policy may delay ...

Re: West End IR trip
Thanks Vandy, looks like we will omit Lake Desor and spend an extra day at Siskiwit Bay, or maybe spend a day fishing on Feldtmann Lake.

West End IR trip
Just got of the phone with my brother and I'm jacked. We finally agreed to do another trip to Isle Royale but we only have 5 days around mid August. This will be our third trip, but the first to the west side. I would like any comments on our proposed trip itinerary:

Re: Tarp
My last trip I used the rainfly from my Eureka 6 man tent. Lightweight and big. It was a little cumbersome to adjust. However, my brother and I spent a good part of the day dry during heavy rains.

Re: 50 lb Pack Limit
I don't know of there current stocks, but back in fall of 2007 my brother and I nearly wiped out the lodges supply of Leinenkugels Summer Shandy's after a 7 day canoe trip of the interior.

Re: Looking for Lake Info
Here's a couple more lure suggestions. My son and I caught pike "at will" on Richie with black/gold and black/silver 5" floating rapalas. Also try a johnson silver spoon, there weedless and great for casting right into the reeds. The Mepps #5 with a squirrell tale and orange/red beads is a pike ...

Thanks, that was my conclusion too. As it turns out I'm canceling my trip this year. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Richie Lake and blue/green algae blooms
I just remember that portage as being rough on me. Anyway, back to the main question. Did Richie Lake, or any of the interior lakes have any algae blooms last year?
