A possible read for your children &/or grandchildren

Your children and or grandchildren might find it interesting. Maybe, they'll want to got to the park with you. Its an short read and covers ...

I wonder if global warming is also, contributing to the decline in the moose population.

Re: Winter read
dcclark You know Nevada Barr books about ISRO NP are true fiction. Especially, when she describes distances between parts of the island. I read one of them at Daisy Farm years ago. It was raining steady for about 2 days. I was lucky to be in a shelter near the trail, that goes up to the fire tower.

Winter read
It is a mild winter here in SW Ohio. Therefore, I read and read. A writer from the Twin Cities has written another interesting story. He's William Kent Krueger. He usually writes about up north (Minnesota). His latest-"The River We Remember" is different and should be worth reading. P.S. I...

The Bear Whisperer
I enjoy being out in the back country. So when I see a book that might be interesting (at the library) I pick it up and head home, for what I hope is a nice read. Steve Searles and Chris Erskine published the "What the Bears Know" recently. Steve is the guy that's featured on the Animal Pl...

Re: TR: June 2023 trip
There are minimum trails. Some of the folks went off trail, up a hill and I believe north thru the woods. There are old broken down spots, one not far from the dock. There was a stairway to an overlook spot. Maybe a regular visitor can tell you which shelter is near that stairway. The guys that caug...

TR: June 2023 trip
I'm an old man, so forgive me. I'm going to post this as best as I can: On Friday, June 16, 2023, 3:04 PM, Jerry Pesch <ojibwa_jjp@yahoo.com> wrote: I left Dayton before 3 a.m. on the first of June (Thursday). About 12 hours later, I was in my old college town (Winona, Minnesota). I visited where my...

Love your detailed report. Washington Creek was packed when I arrived in June. Lots of folks at Rock Harbor also. Thanks!

In the Windigo/Washington Creek and Rock Harbor areas are where you can often see a moose or two. They know that the wolf in normally not in those areas.

Re: 2024 trip- Wolves
Seeing a wolf anywhere is pure luck, for any of us. Somehow, I've seen them on Isle Royale NP, in Minnesota, Wisconsin, & else where can not be planned. It just happens.

Re: Crazy Idea to Circumnavigate the Island?
I noticed at the new store at Windigo, that fuel cans were left near the front door (off to the right of it). No sign indicated they were free. I was there June 8 and 9. The same can be said near the store at Rock Harbor (June 7).
