Re: Getting to and fishing Sargent Lake
I went back and forth on that one...I think I would go with the raft. The only thing is that they weigh 20-40 pounds. I backpacked a Seahawk my very first year to Lake Ritchie. I really need some few backpacking buddies, my guy are out of the game now.

Re: Getting to and fishing Sargent Lake
Sargent Lake is one tough mother. The Daisey Farm trail turns into the Greenstone, however, it wasn't marked clearly. Bugs, bugs, bugs and more bugs. The pike were hungry, but I don't think I'll try that again. Too hard to cast because there is so much brush. Cut my trip short there and headed back ...

Re: Moskey Basin Fishing Reports
Caught a bunch of lake trout off of Scoville point and Red Rock. I was using a Hot Lipps deep diver, looked like a small rainbow trout. Black spoons were the bomb with a Dippsy Diver. My buddy nailed a real nice King Salmon too. Water was 40 degrees. Merritt Lane is a good place. Only caught one ...

Moskey Basin Fishing Reports
Are the Salmon or Lake Trout biting? I'll be canoeing and fishing on my way to Moskey in three days.

Re: Kayak portage yoke experience or suggestions?
Last year I observed a 125 lb, 5'6 man carry an enormous canoe using a yoke. He made it look easy.

Minong III
I've went through many of the previous posts in regards to the Minong trail. I've been reading and thinking about it for two years and I have some extra time this year:) I hike several times a week here in AZ and this will be my 5th trip to IR. I know about the tricky trails and the lack of water ...

Re: Any good shore-fishing locations?
Any inland lake is awesome for shore fishing. Feel free to wade out a bit. Lake Ritchie, Intermediate and Wood Lake are my favorites.

Re: Howdy/trip comments
Shore fish from the Wood Lake campsite (where Siskiwit and Wood meet). There is a lot of room for casting etc... I catch quite a few nice Pike throwing a deep diver and big top waters. They really liked small yellow rooster tails last year. Awesome campsite!!!

Re: Planning 1st trip to IR, want to include Ryan Island
Lots of adventure! I had a nice chunk of time set aside last year to take on Siskiwit and Wood Lake, however, the water/waves can be unpredictable. We had to wait 1 day and a half for the wind to slow up. We finally braved it and had to chill out on a rocky point until dark. Soft rollers felt like a ...

Trolling (rental) Moskey to Merritt
Trolling Moskey to Merritt Lane. Any advice on places I should focus on? Any good pike spots? I'll be drift fishing with spoons, Kastmasters, bottom bouncers and deep divers. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Re: Requesting fishing Lake Superior advice
I'll be fishing in a rental boat for the 1st few days. Moskey Basin to Merritt Lane (Rock Harbor Rules)...where are some good spots? I've been studying Google Earth looking for drop offs and Pike spots. Where can I catch a few?
