Re: Zebra Mussels and fishing gear
This isn't so much a backpacking question or an ISRO one, just a general one as I will be hitting a local lake this weekend that has an alert about the Zebra Mussels. I am already careful with the backpacking gear when I'm up there but fishing is a new thing for me.

Zebra Mussels and fishing gear
Hey gang... long time no post but - I have recently gotten into fishing, Tenkara specifically and I have a question about Zebra Mussel proliferation I figure is worth posing here. Should I be concerned about unintended transport of them on lines and small fly lures, or only larger objects like boats ...

Re: Sawyer Squeeze @REI for $31
I have to mention it again, just because I have been using it without issue for quite some time now, with the usual disclaimer - this isn't me but it's the exact same setup:

Impressive Moose Gif
I'm used to seeing them in slow-and-lazy mode. Just the same I still treat them with respect (and distance). This made my jaw drop though.

Re: VII to delay start of season
Starting to consider eating the ferry fee. I am not into snowshoeing. My buddy is already bailing.

Re: Smokies in March?
Nah I did two nights. That's a hell of a drive for me to do one night... although I would be tempted by a tear-and-go just the same.

Re: What are you spending your REI dividend on? 2014 edition
I am looking at a new water filter. Possibly the Platypus Gravityworks Water Filter System - 4 Liter. I currently use a katadyn. Its time for some new water bottles too. I recommend you take a look at this "system". It is not for everyone but for weight watchers it is tough to beat. Both items are ...

Re: SeatoSummit 10 Liter Folding Bucket
When I used a pump filter I used one. Makes a big difference to be able to pick where I was doing the pumping. Now I don't pump anymore but the bucket was pretty cool, just be careful how you set it down and don't expect to get 10 liters in it. Still have it ... somewhere?

Re: Big Agnes Fly Creek?
Ok... I'm looking at the singles and there's no weight difference so I was very confused. Does not sound like any world-changing technology in the Platinums over the original, at least not in a way that makes a diffference in the 1 person version. thx

Big Agnes Fly Creek?
I am trying to figure out what makes the Platinum superior to the standard Fly Creek UL# model. Kind of scratching my head and coming up empty. Any ideas?

No Cook?
I was reading the thread on wood burners and I saw XJeepr mention going 'no-cook'. I am not sure I am ready to give up my beloved pro-pack Beef Stroganoffs but as a weight weenie it got my attention. So I'm curious if XJeepr or anybody else backpacks stove-less and what they bring for food. I ...

Once it is dry it is supposed to be ok. I still keep clothes that are treated away from him because he's awesome and I don't want to kill him. I do my treating out in the driveway and hang in the garage, take a shower.
